Jo Ann was born in Stem, NC and her husband Mitch was born in Roxboro, NC.  Prior to moving to Harkers island. they previously lived in Durham, NC and most resently in Raleigh, NC. 
 
Jo Ann spent each Summer playing with islanders like Woo Woo Harker and growing to love the island during her many visits with her mother and father to Harkers Island.  When she and Mitch were married in 1975, she brought Mitch to Harkers Island for a Summer vacation.  Mitch loved the island as much as she did and they bought a vacation home here.  They have owned a home on Harkers Island and spent most weeks and Holidays here over the past 32 years. 
 
Mitch and Jo Ann moved to Harkers Island permanently in 2002.
 

JoAnn is also a Real Estate Broker for Eddy Myers Real Estate in Beaufort, North Carolina and the Owner of JoAnn mangum Vacation Rental and JoAnn mangum Long Term Rentals.

 

Mitch is active in all areas important to "Downeat" Carteret County.  He was a member the original CarteretCatch Executive Board and is currently serving on the Carteret Community College Board of Trustees.
